Welcome to The Shared Fairway.
I love golf.
But not for the reasons many people love a sport.
For me, golf has always been a fascinating paradox.
It's the most individual, solitary sport there is. It's just you, your ball, and an (often unforgiving) course. It’s a game of personal accountability. One where you have to both take full ownership of every swing and decision, and accept that you can't control the weather or the bounce the ball will take. One where preparation is critical, but being able to forget something that happened 5 seconds ago even more so.
Golf makes you emotionally vulnerable in a way few things can. Golf will give you the highest of highs, the lowest of lows, and everything in between.
But through all those highs and lows, I learned the sport's most important lesson—a paradox at its core: while golf is an individual game, its true gift is building amazing relationships and creating memories.
You're out there for four-plus hours, walking and talking, with no distractions. It's on the course where I've had some of the most meaningful conversations of my life—with my father, my wife, my son, and even with total strangers. It's a place where bonds are forged over shared triumphs and, maybe more importantly, shared frustrations.
I started The Shared Fairway to explore that connection.
We'll talk about equipment, our favorite courses, what's going on in the golf world, and probably even some swing thoughts. But every post is written through the lens of how this game does more than test our skill; it shapes our lives and brings us together.
We all walk the same course, just in different groups.
I'm glad you're here to walk it with me.
